The beautiful city of Albany

Dernière mise à jour : 12 avr.

Where is Albany ?

Located on Western Australia's southern coast, Albany is 421 kilometres south of Perth. It takes approximately 4 hours 35 minutes to drive from Perth to Albany.

Albany plays a central role in the ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) legend, being the last port of call for troopships departing Australia in the First World War. In many cases, it was the last time troops stepped on Australian soil and is, therefore, a prominent memorial.

What to do in Albany?

Hit a hiking trail

Located in the Torndirrup National Park, a short drive from town, Bald Head Walk Trail is a great trek, bushwalking experience. You will have a stunning views of the Southern Ocean and King George Sound.

Don't miss the museum of The Great Southern

Refurbished in July 2010, the refitted museum overlooks picturesque Princess Royal Harbour, on the site of first European settlement in Western Australia.

The Museum of the Great Southern provides exhibitions, public programs, educational programs and information on the unique natural and social history of the region.

The Museum shares the stories of the Menang Noongar people and the influence of Mokare, a young Noongar warrior, as well as the stories of the early settlers and convicts, and also explores the region's unique natural landscape, flora and fauna.
